Add Multiple IP's to a Server

Method1:

To temporarily add additional IP's use the following commands:

ifconfig eth0:### netmask 255.255.255.248

EX: ifconfig eth0:199 192.168.100.100 netmask 255.255.255.248

  • eth0:### can be anything usually the last octet in the IP address
  • netmask is the same unless other specified by Krypt Support
  • If Krypt server is allocated 3 IP addresses, more IP's can be requested by submitting a support ticket

To permanately add the IP address to be bounded upon startup, edit /etc/rc.d/rc.local and copy and paste the above ifconfig command into the bottom of the file.

Method 2:

1. enter"cd /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts"

2. enter "cp ifcfg-eth0 ifcfg-eth0:1"

3. edit the file "vi ifcfg-eth0:1" and modify DEVICE, and IPADDR

DEVICE=eth0:1
ONBOOT=yes
BOOTPROTO=static
IPADDR=209.11.239.11
NETMASK=255.255.255.248
GATEWAY=209.11.239.9

4. restart the network service "/sbin/service network restart"
